How pay-per-send pricing works

Boostmail charges for the emails you send, never for the contacts you keep. The first 20,000 emails every 30 days are free, and above that you pay per 1,000 emails sent. There is no charge per contact, so there is no reason to prune your list to save money: keep every subscriber and pay only for what you send.
The free allowance
Every 30-day billing period starts with 20,000 free emails. If you send 20,000 emails or fewer in that period, you stay on the Free plan and pay $0. No credit card is needed to install Boostmail and start sending.
What you pay above 20,000 emails
Once you send more than 20,000 emails in a billing period, you pay per 1,000 emails sent, and the rate drops as volume grows:
- $0.50 per 1,000 emails up to 300,000 emails
- $0.35 per 1,000 emails from 300,000 to 800,000 emails
- $0.30 per 1,000 emails above 800,000 emails
The 20,000 free emails come off the first band, so you only pay for emails beyond them.
Plans and base fees
Your plan follows your send volume, and each paid plan has a base fee per 30-day period:
- Free, $0, up to 20,000 emails
- Growth, $5 base fee, up to 300,000 emails
- Professional, $35 base fee, from 300,000 to 800,000 emails
- Enterprise, $35 base fee, from 800,000 up to 1,500,000 emails by default
You don’t need to guess a tier in advance. The plan that matches the number of emails you send is the one that applies.
Enterprise sends up to 1,500,000 emails per 30-day billing period by default. Sending pauses when you reach the limit until the next period starts. If you need more, contact support@boostmail.app and we will raise your limit.
Worked examples
Total cost per 30 days, by number of emails sent:
- 20,000 emails: $0 (all within the free allowance)
- 40,000 emails: $15 ($5 base fee + 20,000 paid emails at $0.50 per 1,000)
- 100,000 emails: $45
- 200,000 emails: $95
- 300,000 emails: $175
- 400,000 emails: $210
- 800,000 emails: $350
- 1,000,000 emails: $410
It can help to think in terms of your list. If every contact gets 4 emails in a 30-day period:
- 1,000 contacts (4,000 emails): $0
- 5,000 contacts (20,000 emails): $0
- 10,000 contacts (40,000 emails): $15
- 25,000 contacts (100,000 emails): $45
- 50,000 contacts (200,000 emails): $95
- 100,000 contacts (400,000 emails): $210
Send more often and the cost follows the emails, not the list. For example, 10,000 contacts receiving 8 emails each (80,000 emails) costs $35.
Why no charge per contact matters
With contact-based pricing, a larger list costs more every month, even when many of those contacts are quiet. That pushes stores to delete subscribers just to stay on a cheaper tier. With Boostmail, a contact who isn’t emailed costs nothing. You can still choose to send to your most engaged segments for better deliverability, but that is a sending decision, not a billing one.

Frequently asked questions
- Am I charged for the contacts on my list?
- No. Boostmail never charges per contact. You can keep every subscriber, including quiet ones, without it changing your bill. You only pay for the emails you actually send.
- What's included for free?
- The first 20,000 emails in every 30-day billing period are free, on the Free plan at $0. There is no credit card needed to install and start sending.
- How much do emails cost above the free 20,000?
- You pay per 1,000 emails sent: $0.50 per 1,000 up to 300,000 emails, $0.35 per 1,000 from 300,000 to 800,000, and $0.30 per 1,000 above 800,000. A base fee applies once you pass the free allowance: $5 on Growth (up to 300,000 emails), $35 on Professional (300,000 to 800,000) and $35 on Enterprise (800,000 to 1,500,000 by default; support raises the Enterprise limit on request).
- Do I need to pick a plan?
- Your plan follows your send volume. If you send 20,000 emails or fewer in a 30-day period you stay on Free. Send more and the matching plan and its base fee apply, based on how many emails you sent.
- How is this different from contact-based pricing?
- Many email platforms price by the number of contacts on your list, so a bigger list costs more even if you rarely email it. Boostmail prices only by emails sent. To compare real numbers for your store, use the Klaviyo vs Boostmail cost tool.
